Medical Marijuana

By on September 6, 2013

Marijuana is known or considered as a plant, which is related with the forbidden drugs and seems to be associated with the people committing nuisance and crimes. Perhaps the reason behind this kind of thinking is due to the recreational use, as this plant contains a profound psychoactive effect. Apart from that marijuana has the vast property of medicinal use and amazingly in ancient times it had been cultivated to serve medical purposes. Though consuming marijuana is banned in some countries like America and India but no medical science could deny the therapeutic values of marijuana.

Medical Marijuana

Having more than 8000 years old history, marijuana is considered among the oldest crops that had been cultivated by humans. In the ancient era cannabis, which is known as marijuana, was grown to produce food, oil and fiber in China. From China it was spread to India and finally it covered the almost all the countries in the world. England had introduced marijuana to the colonial America in early 17th century. Shen Nung, who was an emperor in China, first brought the medical properties of marijuana into notice. At that time people used to take marijuana with wine to get relieved from pains.

Chemical properties, which are responsible for Marijuana’s medicinal effects:

Marijuana holds an important place in medical science, as this plant contains all the 86 cannabinoids and terpenoids. THC, THCV, CBN, CBD, CBG and CBDL are those cannabinoids, which plays the main role to act as medicine. THC increases the effects of pre-consumed medicines. Higher grade marijuana plant can contain up to 20% THC concentration. THC cannabinoid is the treatment for the insomnia, anti-depression and it stimulates appetite. On the other hand CBD has the anti anxiety and neuro-protective properties. It helps to cure multiple sclerosis spasms. Marijuana fights against cancer cells because the compounds THC & CBD work together. Glaucoma patients should be treated with marijuana extract, as the CBG cannabinoid can lower the intra-ocular pressure. Cancer patients, who are going through chemo therapy, are recommended by medical scientists to consume marijuana with food for avoiding the chronic pains. Marijuana has the miraculous effect to trigger the growth of tumor without harming any living cell and so medical marijuana is a must have medicine to reduce brain tumor.

With some unavoidable and harmless side effects marijuana was once truly considered as a gift from the Divine power. Though it is illegal to consume marijuana publicly but science cannot deny the medicinal effects of this plant in human body.

Some of other diseases that can be treated by consuming medical marijuana:

Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s disease, Diabetes, Chronic Pain, Cancer, Breast cancer, HIV, Parkinson’s disease, Migraines, Arthritis, Osteoporosis and many more.

Instead of banning, scientists are engaged to invent some other kind of drugs that can be effective to those, who are suffering from many incurable diseases. Hope is with the technological advancement of medical science, marijuana would open some of the closed doors of those incurable disease and patients would get relieved.
