Gangnam Style Broke Record Guinness on YouTube

By on June 1, 2014

South Korean rapper Psy achieved a new record with his successful song and video “Gangnam Style”, which broke the mark of the 2 billion views on YouTube.

The video was already the most watched web video since November of 2012 when some 800 million clicks took him to surpass music video “Baby” by Justin Bieber.

Psy, for his 36 years, got a hit from an unexpected magnitude in 2012 with Gangnam Style, which was number one in the world.

In the song, which takes elements of American pop music and mixes them with electronic music, Psy mocks the style of young people in the elegant district of Gangnam in Seoul. The hit is part of her sixth album, but was the video that made him famous around the world.
