The Philippines Needs Us: Lest Make a Difference Today

By on November 15, 2013

The Philippines is currently in urgent need, and we should do as much as we can to help them. Some of you might be aware of the tragic situation and some of you might not even know.

It’s been five days since the ferocious Typhoon Haiyan washed away households and edifices with strong winds and gigantic waves. Officials estimate that up to 10,000 people have lost their live in Tacloban city alone. Hundreds of thousands of people are yet to be found. Yet still, the death toll keeps raising each day, as panic spreads in the aftermath.

Eight people were crushed to death when a huge crowd stormed a rice warehouse near Tacloban, one of the worst-hit cities, authorities said. Elsewhere, desperate survivors were resorting to increasingly desperate measures, including breaking into the homes of the dead, and digging up underground pipes and smashed them open to get water.

It is understandable that you might not even be aware due to the busy schedule in today’s society, and we might not have the time to pay attention to other things that does not concern us. Humans in general tend to be selfish by nature, and just worry about themselves.

However, I am here to ask just a simple question: Can you imagine how would it feel to be in that situation? To wake up one day and realize that everything you worked for and loved is gone in just an instant. Moreover, nothing you can do will bring you loved ones back, and your dreams and hopes are all gone. Wouldn’t it be nice to hear from someone say, “Everything will be just fine”. In my case, I know it would.

From my experience, I had really though times, of course nothing compared to this tragic incident. You know much I would wanted to hear someone say those words to me? You guys have no idea. Now, imagine what is going through their minds, and how meaningful those words would be to them.

Sometimes we forget that we are humans, and that we need to help others that need our help. We might not able to help them physically but there are other ways we can help.

We need to remind ourselves that we are humans, and we are here to help. As an individual, we might not be able to make a difference; however, if we work together we can accomplish great things. That is why I am here today to ask for your help.

If you cannot contribute economically, there is other way you can help. If you spread the word with your friends and family, it will help raise the awareness drastically and might make a difference in the lives of these unfortunate people.

Please share the article and lest work together in order to make a difference today.
